The rise of the robots
Well, there is no point in denying it any more. We are living in that period that in certain ways is much scarier than that alternative horrible reality described in the "Terminator" movies, that time when Skynet's took over the planet.
Why am I saying this ?
Because this age is a time of a huge leap forward in robotics. We are witnessing amazing children toys that can imitate emotions and become a child's friend:

And of course, there are all the other leaps forward taking place, such as:
Talking about security robots, Boston Dynamics announced its robotic dog SpotMini is currently in pre-production and that the company will start selling the robots in 2019. Meaning that in 2019 humans may find this robot following them around....
And yes, the dog resemblance doesn't stop there. robots of that specific model can actually work together (a little like dogs or wolfs in packs):
Looking back at the 20th century, we all brought robots into our homes without paying it too much attention. Afterall, what are a washing machine or a dishwasher, but single-purpose robots?
But we are entering now the age of the multi-purpose robot, and in this age, it is easy to see that robots are going to be present everywhere, with the purpose of performing tasks along humans, instead of humans, and on humans.
That last item, may be perceived by many as the especially bothering because you can't watch their marvelous presentation videos without finding yourself thinking of the scary visions of robots making their own decisions, regarding what to do with the human standing before them.
I think it is high time to talk some more of Asimov's three laws of Robotics. Remember them?

- A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
